Rainbow Fishing Wheatley

Things are shaping up nicely for a great season of fishing in the Wheatley area. I was fishing out of Wheatley marina again on Wednesday with an older gentleman you will notice in an earlier post. We had a busy day and the fish are big. We ran out of cooler space actually. We boated 6 very nice rainbow trout and 5 large walleyes. We were fishing about 4-5 miles SE of the harbor and spent most of our time in 50 feet of water. Spoons colors were the same as previous post, with the purple/pink spoon doing almost all the damage. One spoon I painted last weekend had much of the paint scraped off from fish activity. Get in and have fun!

Walleye fishing is here on the north shore of lake Erie near Leamington. This nice box of fish was caught a few miles west of Leamington on Sunday. The largest was 27 inches long and there were a few JUMBO perch in the box as well. These fish were caught using bottom bouncers in 24 feet of water. About 3 ounces of lead and 1.8 mph with about 50 feet of line out.

There were reports that pink/purple combinations were catching fish as well.

In the pictures are my son Trevor Henricks and his 77 year old father-in-law, Ernie Grant. Ernie fishes more days each year than most charter fishermen and lives to go moose hunting in which he fully participates every year.

Fishing Report Leamington, Point Pelee, Pelee Island

Walleye fishing appears to be picking up steam and fish are moving closer to the north shore. Walleye have been caught on both west and east side of Pelee Island (mostly at the southern end) and some up at the NE corner. Some walleye are being caught in the Point Pelee and Colchester area as well.
I am waiting for better news and more specifics. I hope to have good news soon.
Yellow perch can be caught at Grub’s Reef also.

Question by noils2: Where in the world can you find the cheapest full day fishing charters?
I’m looking for a 30 foot plus saltwater charter boat that will catch edible gamefish like tuna and wahoo. I have no interest in trophy billfish.

I know you can get one for a couple hundred bucks in Cuba that can load up the boat but our government unfortunately won’t allow Americans to travel there.
Bingo injun. You don’t make money with empty space.
